Armenia seeks investment and cooperation from China
From:Belt and Road Portal  |  2017-08-22 15:58

China and Armenia's civil aviation authorities have signed a memorandum of understanding on Aug 11 and agreed to expand civil aviation connections.

Already Armenia and China have productive cooperation in the fields of transport, electricity infrastructure construction, industry and new energy under the framework of Belt and Road Initiative, according to Tian Erlong, China's ambassador to Armenia.

This year is the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-Armenia diplomatic relations and China is Armenia's second-largest trading partner.

Last year, Armenia's economy only grew by 0.2 percent, much lower than the 2 percent expectation. The country is actively seeking economic cooperation with other countries.

Armenia has a population of 3 million. Yet not with standing, it is regarded as a gateway to approach the Eurasian Economic Union, a 180-million-people market with an combined economy valued at $3 trillion.

Armenia's free trade zones grant qualified foreign enterprises national treatment. The enterprises in the FTZs are exempted from interest tax, added-value tax, corporate income tax, tariffs and property tax.
