LONDON, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- FTSE 100 Index, the Britishbenchmark stock market gauge, Tuesday increased by 0.98 percent, or57.41 points, to 5,929.24 points.

　　Share price of Tesco increased by 6.70 percent, topped thegainers of the blue chips.

　　Shire, Berkeley Group Holdings , GKN, and J Sainsbury increasedby 4.82 percent, 3.79 percent, 3.44 percent and 3.25 percentrespectively.

　　Randgold Resources led the top losers of the blue chips with ashare price drop of 3.75 percent, followed by Antofagasta (3.51percent), BHP Billiton (2.86 percent), Rio Tinto (2.65 percent),Aberdeen Asset Management (2.24 percent). Enditem
