A MAN who tried to blackmail his business partner by forcibly taking nude pictures of her has been detained by Yangpu District police.

　　The man, surnamed Wu, had set up a 3D application company for online clothing store with the woman surnamed Fang in April this year. But they failed to make much headway and by August their investments had dried up. Wu tried to convince Fang to put in more cash into the business but she refused.

　　Desperate and unwilling to give up his business in which he had also invested thousands of yuan, Wu thought up a plan.

　　On the pretext that she take back some of the office stuff, Wu asked Fang to meet him in a hotel in Wujiaochang area in Yangpu District on September 16 afternoon.

　　In the hotel room, he again tried to convince Fang to put up 500,000 yuan (US$78,800) more into the business — only to be rebuffed again.

　　An upset Wu then threatened her with a knife and tied her up, demanding that she pay 500,000 yuan.

　　Fang said she could not pay him immediately and needed to go out to get the money.

　　Wu then stripped Fang of her clothes and took her nude pictures with the intention of blackmailing her before letting her off. He warned her against calling the police.

　　But Fang and her family reported the matter to the police. Wu was caught the next day when he went into a restaurant to pick up the money from Fang. Wu reportedly admitted he had threatened to blackmail Fang for the money.
