THE city is likely to receive some rains brought about by the peripheral flows of Typhoon Koppu this weekend, forecasters said.

　　Koppu, which made a landfall in the Philippines and had weakened into a tropical storm, is now lingering near the Luzon Island in the Philippines. It is forecast to keep moving northward before nearing Taiwan today.

　　It will be sunny on Thursday due to high pressure but will turn cloudy on Friday with few brief showers when the tropical storm’s peripheral flows skim the city. The showery condition will continue into the weekend.

　　It will be warm today with a high of 26 degrees Celsius. The rains are unlikely to affect temperatures with the mercury ranging from 19 to 25 degrees between Thursday and Sunday.

　　Saturday will be marked as Shuangjiang, the solar term for frost falls, suggesting the appearance of frost on the local crops. The plants then begin to shed leaves.
