Mayor meets leader of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan

  SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Ken Manget, vice president of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, on Tuesday and praised his organization for cooperation with Shanghai Airport Authority.

  Yang said Shanghai is working hard to develop the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and is carrying out institutional reform and innovation to facilitate investment and trade and further open up the financial sector.

  Shanghai will increase investment in infrastructure and support the development of aviation industry to meet the growing demand for overseas travel, the mayor said.

  He welcomed international investors like Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan to participate in Shanghai's development.

  Manget said his organization has a global investment strategy and has cooperated with many airports in the world. Shanghai is one of the most important Asian cities. The OTPP is glad to cooperate with Shanghai Airport Authority and use its rich experiences to help the city develop the aviation industry.

  The OTPP is an independent organization that manages and invests pension funds for school teachers in the Canadian province of Ontario. It had a net asset of 154.5 billion Canadian dollars (US$106.81 billion) in 2014.
