Valentine's Day will bring a marriage boom to China, with many couples choosing the Western lovers' day as the day get spliced.

Many registration centers in Beijing expect three times the usual number of couples getting married on that day, the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau said on Friday.

The registration center in Haidian district has an average registration rate of 400 every day. More than 30,000 couples register every year, statistics from the bureau show.

Some registration centers will have more staff working on the day, and others are to increase the number of service windows, or bring forward their work schedule.

Before going to the registration center, couples could make an online reservation, which would shorten processing time.

According to the bureau, this year's online reservation will open around the clock, without number limitation.

A netizen surnamed "Waiting for a rose" commented on the website saying that "it is so romantic and meaningful to be married on Valentine's Day."

In China people have to bring their identity card, household register, three photos for marriage registration. The whole process might take a few minutes.
