Qin Yi is a news anchor and producer at the Shanghai Media Group. She hosts the nightly news program "News At Ten" and weekly newsy talk show "The Maintalk" on ICS, an English-language channel undert the Shanghai Media Group (SMG). She is also producer of "The Maintalk". In the meantime, she is a presenter at SMG's Chinese-language news center, hosting the daily prime time news program "Dragon News" and weekly world news program "Global Weekly".
Qin Yi received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. After graduation in December 2002, she returned to Shanghai and began her television career at the English prorgram department at the Shanghai Broadcasting Network, which was later relaunched as Shanghai Dragon TV, under the Shanghai Media Group. She started out as a reporter for daily news programs. Being a quick and passionate learner, Qin Yi soon commanded basic reporting skills. Her solid academic background and outstanding on-camera performance gave her the opportunity to host a weekly business program called "BizWatch". From 2004 to 2007, she interviewed more than 300 key political figures and Fortune 500 CEO's, most of which were also broadcasted by CCTV-9's "Biz China"as well as on CNN International's "World Today". She also won the second prize in the 2004 China Foreign-language Television Program Competition.
Starting 2004, because of her language capability, Qin Yi participated as a bilingual host in many of Dragon TV's live breaking news coverage. These include the 2004 and 2008 US presidential elections, 7/7 metro bomb attack in Madrid, the launch of the "Discovery"space shuttle, Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the US, the trial of Sadam Houssein, Wenchuan earthquake, etc.
Qin Yi has also been invited to host major national and regional events such as the opening ceremonies of the 3rd and the 4th China-ASEAN Expo, Shanghai Municipal Government's celebration of the 59th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China, the opening ceremony of the 2008 China Shanghai International Arts Festival, etc.
