1933 Shanghai was once the largest abattoir in the Far East. No wonder the contestants sensed a lingering gloominess in this labyrinthine but orderly structure. Adventures for this episode took place on the spacious fourth floor under a glass vaulted ceiling. Later the contestants arrived at Duolun Road. Curio shops line this 550-meter strip, and one eccentric outlet caught the contestants’eyes with its dim lights, old GE refrigerator, and fading posters. It was a bit like the‘Old Oriental Store’scene in a movie. Soon, contestants were inside the imposing Shanghai Postal Museum, where they had to find three special postcards on a non-stop antique mail sorter, and got the clue to the next stop from a mysterious person in this building.

Contestants quickly got clues to the destination of this episode, Shanghai Port International Passenger Center. By the Huangpu, the contestants watched the lights gradually illuminating the city skyline. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower was in close proximity, and the Bund bell tolled. On this dock with its great dusk views, contestants were to take the challenge of“Going blindfolded from New York to Shanghai.”Later the awards would be presented here, when another team would also bid farewell to the game. Unfortunately, after the joy came the tears. In Shanghai Rush, accidents happen every day. This was a day full of accidents.
