Shanghai Rush: Episode 7 (June 14)

ShanghaiRush begins at the ancient and solemn Qinglong Temple complex in Qingpu District on the city’s outskirts. The pagoda erected during the Song and Yuan Dynasties bears a certain resemblance to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It stands as a marvel of sacred Chinese architecture. The first challenge was to count all the small and medium-sized statues in the temples, and cast a lucky coin into the bronze tripod in accordance with the Chinese custom. Taxies conveyed contestants to the Qingpu Museum for new clues, which finally guided them to Zhujiajiao, one of Shanghai’s four cultural water towns. Afternoon sun added more beauty to the ancient town with its myriad canals. Local life and customs along the bluestone paths provided refreshment for the contestants after some tiring days. Towing rickshaws, contestants found the shop selling smelly tofu where new clues were hidden. They all tasted this special snack. Well-known fashion designer Han Feng was a guest for this episode, sharing her childhood memories of the town. Finally, everyone gathered in Oriental Land, getting ready for military training tasks - tossing sandbags. Who would be outstanding in this episode? On the deck of the giant aircraft carrier replica, Brian was waiting to announce the results.
