Scorched is set in Sydney in the near future at a time when there's been no rainfall for over 200 days. The city has run out of water and become completely reliant on its desalination plant. During a severe heatwave the city is ringed by bushfires which simultaneously break their containment lines leaving Sydney under siege and without sufficient water to defend itself.

The action concerns Tull's turbulent passage from ordinary soldier to extraordinary officer at officer training camp, where he had to face his own demons as well as fight the prejudice that surrounded him.

This moving drama is about renowned novelist Saburo Shiroyama’s life with his wife from when they first meet until her death. This is a truly personal record found in the author’s home after he passed away in 2007. Viewers can capture a side to him that he has never shown in his novels.
