Martin Gilman: Statistics Show the Rise of the BRICS Countries
Beijing- The GDP of seven big emerging economies( four BRIC countries plus Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey) in 2014 amounts to 37.8 trillion, surpassing the amount of the traditional G7, according to statistics from IMF, said Martin Gilman, director of Center for Advanced Studies, Higher School of Economics during the BRICS economic think tank forum held on Nov. 6.
The BRICS and some other emerging economies are playing a more and more important role in the world economy. “Compared to data of 2003 from Goldman Sachs, new statistics show the rise of the BRICS countries , which has replaced the “old” group of seven. Nothing will hold back this trend,” said Martin, the growth of these emerging economies would slow down by 2019 according to IMF, though.
