Huge growth for Hongqiao

Shanghai Daily news

Shanghai Hongqiao Linkong Economic Zone in Changning District is attempting to further strengthen its services within the zone to attract more big name companies.
The Southern part of the zone, which covers an area of more than 1.1 square kilometers, has become somewhat of a nerve center, covered in office buildings. Now companies are launching their headquarters, sales departments and research and development centers in this, more developed, Southern edge.
Fang Qingcheng, vice general manager of Shanghai Hongqiao Linkong Economic Zone Co Ltd, said the zone is concentrating on developing itself as an area that attracts the headquarters of larger companies, especially those involved in the high-tech sector. An aspect that Feng hopes will promote this shift of large companies is the environmentally friendly nature of the zone and the large amount of green space.
Additionally, Changning District hopes that companies will be attracted to the zone by its convenient location in the city's West end.
Situated beside the city's outer ring road and within a stones throw of Hongqiao International Airport, the industrial zone has promoted its well developed traffic network as an attraction for companies that are looking to relocate their headquarters or branches.
"Nowadays, as the district government is laying more emphasis on the overall development of Linkong, the investment environment is gaining popularity among a growing number of companies which are planning to relocate their production bases to Linkong," said Fang.
"The zone has already attracted leading IT companies including Digital China, ECS Technology China and SYNNEX Corporation, " he added.
However, the convenient transportation system also acts as something of a detriment for Changning because it is increasing the popularity of nearby industrial zones in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. Yet this isn't dampening the district government's efforts to build Linkong as the leading industrial zone among nearby competitors.
Compared with other industrial zones such as Zhangjiang High-tech Park in Pudong New Area, Linkong offers the comprehensive and quick support of various departments within the zone and even offers the full support of the district officials.
Chen Jianwei, general manager of ECS Technology China Ltd, expressed his gratitude to the warm-hearted and pragmatic officials from the Linkong Zone and the district.
"The preferential policy and the superior location as well as the human-oriented regulations make the Linkong Zone an incomparable place where ECS has fully sprung up as one of the top three IT companies", said Chen.
Digital China, an IT products distributor and systems integrator, as well as a leading networking product developer in China, has settled into the zone and set up its platform.
The leading warehouse in the logistics center, which covers an area of more than 6,000 square meters, has been put into rigorous use, putting through up to 600 orders a day.
Shanghai Hongqiao Linkong Industrial Zone was once a weed-covered village. It's industrialization first took place in 1992 when private and state-owned factories shaped up near what used to be the city's only airport.
The zone was recently listed as a member of the International Association of Science Parks and is going to be the symbol of "Digital Changning."
