The Changning District government has carried out a series of programs to take better care of the more than 5,000 elderly people who live alone in the district.
A large number of volunteers from government units as well as local neighborhoods were encouraged to participate in helping the elderly with their daily life. Funds were also set up to help those elderly people suffering from loneliness find ways to interact with others.
