Chongming county created 5,094 jobs in the first four months of this year. So far, nearly 4,000 unemployed people in the county has received some special vocational training. By creating more job opportunities and offering relevant training, the county government's efforts to enhance employment, especially for those in difficulties, have been largely effective over the past few years.
The county has spent 17 million yuan (US$2.05 million) to start a renovation project of old homes in Ximen Community of Chengqiao Town. More than 70 residential buildings will be revamped and nearly 2,000 families are expected to benefit from the renovation project.
