Situated around Chongming Island's North Lake is the future home of a
multi-functional eco-resort. Sources said that the international bidding outline
had already been established, and the construction plan will be complete by the
end this quarter.
North Lake is considered a salt lake as it contains
about 5 percent to 7 percent of salt. Salt lakes are notorious for their clear
blue waters.
The lake is about 10 kilometers in length and around 0.5 to
1.1 kilometers in width. The total area is about 8 square kilometers.
A
vast ecological environment surrounds North Lake, with groups of migrating birds
from the northern regions flying all the way there to rest in the
winter.
The resort is expected to be split into two parts. The south part
will mainly be aimed at tourism, while the west part will maintain its original
ecosystem.
