Huang Li won four gold medals in cycling at the 13th Shanghai Sports Meeting. As a member of the athletic delegation from the Chongming rural island county, the 17-year-old from Xingang Village, Gangxi Town, also earned a medal for sportsmanship for her strong performance. Huang started cycling competitively on an oval at 13. At last year's national championship, she finished top three for her age group.
