Visits to the Fengxian district soared to five to six times the normal numbers last week with a new  beach resort drawing in the crowds. A 40,000-square-meter parking lot was almost full last Sunday while long lines formed for tickets to all activities. It was the third weekend since the beach resort opened. District officials said the beach's popularity was beyond expectation and new toilet facilities as well as umbrella areas would be constructed to meet demand for the ever-increasing crowds.
