The Jing'an District's real estate sales in the first quarter of this year totaled 2.9 billion yuan (US$349.4 million), a 69 percent increase from last year. Construction of new houses reached 1.7 billion yuan, up 34 percent compared with the same period last year. The cost of new housing projects in the district remains high.
