Noodle back on the street

Noodle is missing. Three days into life at her new home, the city's most
famous stray jumped from the arms of her new carer and vanished yesterday
morning. The pooch won hearts when it was revealed in local newspapers that
she maintained a seven year vigil outside her former home waiting for the return
of owners who had abandoned her. Her shaggy looks had been trimmed and she
was wearing a light purple flannelette vest when she disappeared, according to
sad owner surnamed Li. "I feel so sorry, especially to the kind-hearted
people who had volunteered to care for Noodle," Li told Shanghai Daily
yesterday. Zeng Rong, a young woman, took Noodle to a pet shelter to help her
earlier this month. The dog's perseverance touched many locals who
volunteered to give her a new home. Zeng chose Li, a 50-year-old
businesswoman, and Noodle began her new life on Sunday. Li took the dog to
her office every day to spend more time with her. After being timid and
gloomy for so long, Noodle was an active member of her new family. "She even
barked in the office on Tuesday morning and we all felt so relieved at her
change," the woman said. Li said while stopped trembling and was healthy, she
seemed unaccustomed to life indoors. "She often walked to the balcony at home
to look outside and sometimes I found her gazing expectantly through the glass
gates at office." The dog vanished as Li was about to enter her office near
the intersection of Xinzha and Wanhangdu roads, Jing'an District at about 9am.
If captured without a license and an owner, Noodle will be killed. Noodle
is likely to return to her old home on Laohumin Road, Minhang District. Call
