Langxia Town to keep treasured green spaces

While downtown residents shop in luxury plazas and drink in classy bars,
suburban people are still plowing their farms. There are 12 towns in the city
now engaged in building modern agricultural zones - manufacturing farm products
and turning the natural beauty of their lands into tranquil tourist spots - and
Langxia Town in the Jinshan District is one of them. The town is building a
48-square-kilometer modern agricultural zone in an area which is home to 34,000
residents. Agricultural incubators, processing centers and exhibition halls
for farm products will be set up. The incubator is designed to be a research
and development center for eco-friendly seedlings. Environmentally friendly
food will be produced in the processing center and the exhibition hall will
demonstrate the district's farm products and planting theories. Farms in the
zone cover an area of 0.30 hectares, along with 0.12 hectares of
woodlands. Maintaining the green touch to the town is on top of priority list
for modernizing. A 2.24-square-kilometer eco-park is being built far from the
manufacturing center and traffic, providing tranquility for people to flee the
hustle and bustle of city life. There are five rivers in the area - the
Liulitang, Shantang, Huigaojing, Zhongxin and Xiangyang. Marshland is
expected to form among trees and grass. The northwestern area of the park
will be an ideal pool for fishing. Historic spots will be protected and
museums will be built around Shantang River, the oldest of the five. Boats
and yachts will be launched on the Liulitang River, which is the widest. The
blueprint also includes pedestrian paths lined with outdoor spaces, as well as
dancing centers and a book market. Unlike other farming areas, the
agricultural zone of Jinshan will be decorated with greens and covered with
flowers. Trees and grass will be planted around the zone, which could become
an ideal place for jogging and cycling. Tents will be available for
adventurous travelers to camp out. An administrative center at the heart of
the zone will provide services for investors, tourists and
residents.
