Frauds imprisoned

The Luwan District People's Court yesterday sentenced two local residents
surnamed Gu and Ni to 6 1/2 years in prison for fraud. They were both salesmen
with a real estate agency. They demanded 50,000 yuan (US$6,024) from a buyer as
deposit although they knew the seller wasn't willing to sell his apartment any
more in September, 2002. They later asked for 100,000 yuan more from the buyer
and split the money.
