Since May, Minhang District has practiced greater transparency in its government administration in order to guarantee residents the right to information. The move was required by the Shanghai government. A total of 1,067 pieces of information, covering government policies, plans and other news of interest, some of which was not previously accessible, have been available to the public via Internet and newly set up offices since the end of last year.
