Shanghai plans to invest 11.7 billion yuan (US$1.5 billion) over the period of the 11th Five Year Plan (2006-2010) to make existing inland waterways between Shanghai and nearby Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces suitable for container transport.
Shanghai Chengtou Corporation said yesterday that the first-phase improvement of the Dalu waterway in Nanhui District had been completed.
