Pudong New Area accelerated the pace of construction of its first railway recently. The railway is designed to pass through several districts across the city, such as Jinshan, Fengxian and Nanhui. The government has injected about 7.6 billion yuan ( US$916 million) to start the project and it is expected to be finished by 2006.
