Pudong New Area is benefiting from a growing biopharmaceutical industry. The industrial output value from the district's biopharmaceutical sector reached 8.93 billion yuan last year, a 12.1 percent increase from a year earlier. Its Zhangjiang Biopharmaceutical Industrial Base is currently home to more than 30 research and development centers of different levels.
