Teenager jumps to escape sex
1/9/2004 16:23

A teenage boy jumped off the second floor of a building in Yangpu District and broke his left ankle after allegedly being sexually assaulted by a middle-aged man.
The teenager jumped from the building on Monday night and is now being treated at Xinhua Hospital free of charge.
Jiang Yunhuai, a Sichuan Province native, couldn't find a job in the city after arriving alone one week ago.
He said he was collecting waste bottles along the Bund when he met the man on August 23.
"At first, the man claimed he was a cook and could offer me a job at a university canteen in Songjiang District," Jiang said.
Afterward, the man brought the boy to his house at a residential area in Yangpu District for accommodation.
"Suddenly he began to kiss me and fondle my body when I was ready to sleep that night," Jiang said. "He even wanted to take off my trousers."
The man is in his forties, the 17-year-old said.
"I struggled and jumped from the second floor because he locked the door. Then I ran to a neighboring building and a woman called the police and emergency center," Jiang said.
The migrant teen received a free plaster bandage for his fractured ankle yesterday afternoon. He said he has no relatives or friends in the city and can only live on the food, water and clothes provided by nursing assistants in the hospital.
Huang Weiguo, a neighbor of the alleged assailant, said the man took 600 yuan (US$72.29) from Jiang to control him.
Police refused to give more details and said the case is still under investigation.
