The Yangpu District Geriatric Hospital, the biggest of its kind in the city, started a monthlong list of activities to honor seniors. During the month, the hospital will offer free medical treatment to single seniors in the district. It will set up a service team to provide medical consulting and treatment to those in the district's rest homes. The hospital also bought three wheelchairs for free use by seniors. The Chongyang Festival to show respect for the elderly falls on October 22 this year.
