The Zhabei district is planning to prune 125 overgrown trees on Baoshan Road. Most of the trees are over 30-year-old and include such species as metasequoia, cedar and spruce. Residents and tenants of local office buildings have complained that the trees' thick foliage blocked out sunlight, wind and the circulation of fresh air. Six real estate management companies and 300 residents are to be involved in the pruning activities.
