During the first eight months of this year, 338 foreign-invested companies in Zhabei District paid the district 145.98 million yuan (US$17.59 million) in taxes, up 43.5 percent from a year earlier.  A large portion of those taxes came from the service sector such as supermarket chain stores and real estate agencies.
