Vietnam produces first energy-saving mobile microprocessor

The Vietnamese company VSMC has succeeded in manufacturing Vietnam's first
energy-saving microprocessor which helps mobile electronics devices slash their
energy consumption by 40 percent, local newspaper Young People reported
today. The microprocessor coded VS8801A can be used in smart phones, digital
cameras, PDAs, Pocket PCs, and iPods. Vo Huu Hai, director of the company in
southern Ho Chi Minh City, said his firm and Taiwanese microprocessor maker TSMC
have reached a deal on VS8801A production. VSMC spent two years researching
and developing the microprocessor.
