Five Shanghai-based shipping companies have recently promised to improve
services to better serve cargo ships and passengers on Sino-Japanese sea routes.
The quality services pledged by the shipping companies include prompt loading
and unloading, 100 percent passenger safety and luggage security and more
effective communication.
The Sino-Japanese route mainly consists of two ships¡ªXin Jian Zhen Hao and
Suzhou Hao¡ªwhich depart from Shanghai¡¯s North Bund on regular voyages to Osaka
and Kobe.
The two ships have carried nearly 20,000 passengers and handled over 30,000
TEUs of cargos since last year¡¯s restoration of the International Passenger
Transport Center in Shanghai Port.
The five shipping companies are Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal,
Gaoyang branch of Shanghai International Port Group, Shanghai Ocean Shipping
Rally Co Ltd, China-Japan International Ferry Co Ltd and Shanghai International
Ferry Co Ltd.
As the world¡¯s largest port, Shanghai port handled 537 million tons of cargo
last year, a 21.2 percent rise year-on-year and 90 million tons more than
Singapore, the second biggest port.
