Shanghai Secretary Yu Zhengsheng met a delegation led by the David Lewis, Mayor of the City of London, yesterday morning.

Shanghai Vice Mayor Tang Dengjie also attended the meeting.

Yu said with a change in financial structure and mode of development, Shanghai should pay more attention to boosting the modern service industry.

The establishment of the Shanghai-based International Financial Center aims to create opportunity and environment for financial talents to get together and promote market liberalization, Yu also said.

Yu appreciated the long-term cooperation and friendship between the two cities and said that Shanghai would learn from London’s successful experiences.

Lewis believes that Shanghai can develop into a global financial center and expressed greater willingness for further cooperation.
