20/8/2008 17:50

Jordan is considering to build a metro rail in capital of Amman, as an alternative to a light rail system in the city, local daily The Jordan Times reported today.
The metro plans in the first stage to link downtown Raghadan to University of Jordan Street, and extend from Raghadan to the Airport Street in a later stage, according to a source who preferred anonymity.
An initial study estimated the cost of the project at 500 to 600 million Jordanian dinars, or about 706 to US$847 million, the source said.
A tender will be floated to carry out the project on the basis of build, operate and transfer, the source added.
