Vietnamese government asks EU to remove shoes anti-dumping tax
29/8/2008 17:07

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has proposed that the European Union (EU) remove the imposition of anti-dumping tax on Vietnam's leather-capped shoes exported to the block, local newspaper Vietnam News reported today.
He told a meeting with European entrepreneurs in Hanoi yesterday that over the past two years, the EU's anti-dumping tax imposition had affected many businesses, including those from Europe, and nearly one million Vietnamese workers.
The deputy prime minister also called on the EU to recognize Vietnam as a market economy and urged European businesspeople to voice their support for Vietnam's proposals to help boost economic ties between the two sides.
He said Europe had become Vietnam's most important economic partner, with two-way trade growing at 15-20 percent annually and reaching US$14 billion last year.
