11/9/2008 17:42

The economic authorities of Abu Dhabi, the largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will start releasing the emirate's monthly inflation figures from November, local newspaper The National reported today.
The new information will be measured by the emirate's Department of Planning and Economy (DPE), using an updated basket of consumer goods representing the spending habits of Emirate's citizens, according to the report.
The new basket has been developed in consultation with the Abu Dhabi government in order to ensure consistency of measurement methodologies.
DPE currently release inflation figures every three months.
It released last Monday an overall inflation figure of 12.88 percent for the second quarter of 2008, but changed its mind the next day, saying the figure "inaccurate."
An official of DPE's statistical administration said that the data were incomplete and he expected to publish a revised set of figures within the next two weeks.
