Japan's industrial output expanded 1.3 percent on a seasonally adjusted
basis in July from the prior month, up from a 0.9 percent rise in the
preliminary report, said the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
today. In a revised report, the ministry said that the index of production in
mines and factories read 108.3, compared with the gauge of 100 for the base year
of 2005. It was the first increase in two months, said the report, adding
that strong car and truck exports were the major factors behind the
growth.
