Indian stock market opens 1.95 percent down

Indian shares opened lower today, with the key index Sensex down 1.95
percent shortly after opening. Sensex lost 273.54 points, or 1.95 percent, to
13,721.42. Sensex is the common name for the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive
Index. It consists of the 30 largest and most actively traded stocks,
representative of various sectors, on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The base year
of Sensex is 1978-79 and the base value is 100.
