Tokyo stocks slide 0.9 pct today

Nikkei closed down 0.90 percent today amid uncertainties clouding the US bailout plan to stabilize the financial system.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's benchmark Nikkei-225 index dropped 108.50 points to 12,006.53. The broader Topix index of all first- section shares went down 14.02 points or 1.21 percent to 1,153.95.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 108.50 points, or 0.90 percent, from yesterday to 12,006.53. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 14. 02 points, or 1.20 percent, to 1,153.95.
Stock Price Index of all second-section finished at 2,445.01, lost 18.96 points.
Stocks declined almost across the board, led by sea transport, trading house, and oil and coal product issues. Rubber product, insurance, and pulp and paper issues were the only gainers.
Losses were narrowed during afternoon trading as dealers believed that the US US$700 billion proposal to buy bad assets from faltering financial institutions bailout plan may get passed by the congress soon.
