Indonesia's car sales down in October
12/11/2008 16:59

The car sales in Indonesia in October decreased to about 54,000 units from around 56,000 in the previous month, the chairman of the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association said in Jakarta today.
Chairman Bambang Trisulo said that the decline was due to the seasonal decrease which commonly occurs after the peak demand weeks ahead of the anniversary of the Islamic festivity on Oct. 1 and 2.
"After the Islamic festivity, the demand normally decreases," he told Xinhua.
The association has predicted that car sales would reach over 600,000 units this year and 450,000 units next year.
The decrease of car sales next year is due to the lower US dollars liquidity as the impact of the global financial rout.
"The low of US dollars availability might be the problem," he said.
