S.Korea's brand power valued at US$1.08 trillion

South Korea's national brand power is valued at US$1.08 trillion for 2008, said a South Korean state-run institute today.
The Institute of Industrial Policy Studies (IPS) said the number is calculated by surveying foreigners about each country's products and services sold abroad, numbers of inbound tourists and familiarity.
Under the institute's survey, among local companies, Samsung Electronics maintained at the top with value totaling 11.6 trillion won (US$7.7 billion) while Hyundai Motor Co came in second at 5 trillion won (US$3.3 billion), and LG Electronics coming third at 4.3 trillion won (US$2.86 billion).
The brand power of United States ranks No.1 in the world with US$9. 03 trillion, followed by Germany, Britain, Japan, France, Canada, China, Italy and the Netherlands. South Korea's brand power ranks the 10th in the world, the institute said.
