ICAO helps Vietnam develop its civil aviation sector

Vietnam's President Nguyen Minh Triet said that the visit of President of
the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Roberto Gonzalez is of
great significance to the development of Vietnam's civil aviation sector, the
Vietnam News reported today. Triet made the statement during the meeting with
the visiting President of the International Civil Aviation Organisation Roberto
Gonzalez, in Hanoi yesterday. President Triet asked the International Civil
Aviation Organisation to boost its cooperation with Vietnam in personnel
training and civil aviation security. Roberto Gonzalez praised Vietnam for
its civil aviation safety, flight security and the opportunities and potential
for Vietnamese civil aviation sector development. Therefore, the International
Civil Aviation Organisation wanted to cooperate closely with Vietnam in
effectively dealing with these issues. Roberto Gonzalez also highlighted
Vietnam's effective use of human resources in civil aviation, particularly with
regard to pilots. He recommended that Vietnam should adopt current regulations
of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, allowing pilots to continue
flying until the age of 65 to avoid wasting this valuable human
resource. Roberto Gonzalez said that the International Civil Aviation
Organisation is ready and willing to expand the scope of its cooperation with
Vietnam regarding the training of personnel.
