Vietnam's President Nguyen Minh Triet said that the visit of President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Roberto Gonzalez is of great significance to the development of Vietnam's civil aviation sector, the Vietnam News reported today.
Triet made the statement during the meeting with the visiting President of the International Civil Aviation Organisation Roberto Gonzalez, in Hanoi yesterday.
President Triet asked the International Civil Aviation Organisation to boost its cooperation with Vietnam in personnel training and civil aviation security.
Roberto Gonzalez praised Vietnam for its civil aviation safety, flight security and the opportunities and potential for Vietnamese civil aviation sector development. Therefore, the International Civil Aviation Organisation wanted to cooperate closely with Vietnam in effectively dealing with these issues.
Roberto Gonzalez also highlighted Vietnam's effective use of human resources in civil aviation, particularly with regard to pilots. He recommended that Vietnam should adopt current regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, allowing pilots to continue flying until the age of 65 to avoid wasting this valuable human resource.
Roberto Gonzalez said that the International Civil Aviation Organisation is ready and willing to expand the scope of its cooperation with Vietnam regarding the training of personnel.
