Indonesia has set a target of 1.05 million barrel per day oil and
condensate production in 2010, a senior official of the Energy Ministry said in
Jakarta today. The target was made amid the country's efforts to boost
production which has been felt below one million barrel per day in February,
triggering the Southeast Asia largest oil and gas producer to become net
importer country and left membership in OPEC. The offcial said that one of
the biggest contributor of the rise was Cepu oil and gas block in East Java and
a number of oil fields owned by the state-owned firm Pertamina. "The biggest
contribution would be from Cepu block," the official told Xinhua. Currently, the
country's oil production reached 960,000 bpd. Earlier, the oil and gas
watchdog BP Migas has projected that the country's oil and condensate production
to reach 911,000 bpd in 2010, spokesman of the body Amir Hamzah told
Xinhua. The government has awarded more than 40 exploration rights to foreign
and local companies nationwide recently. Some new field has started production,
such as in north Duri of Riau province which was operated by a subsidiary of US
oil and gas giant Chevron.
