Hong Kong stocks soar 7.52 pct at midday

Hong Kong stocks finished sharply higher at midday, soaring 1,040.57
points, or 7.52 percent, to end today's morning session at 14,886.66 on hope
that the central government will introduce more economic stimulus measures at
the on-going economic conference in Beijing. Extending its rally last week,
the benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 457.16 points, or 3.3 percent, to open at
half-day low 14,303.25 and rocketing as much as 1,140.96 points, or 8.24
percent, to half-day peak 14,987.05 near the short-term obstacle level
15,000. Share prices rose across the board as investors bought into blue-chip
companies and those companies registered in the Chinese mainland on hope of good
news from the central government's annual economic work conference opening today
in Beijing.
