Local residents will only need to pay half of the price for a two-day weekend tour to Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, from September 3, according to Zhang Houbao, vice mayor of Yangzhou. However, they have to visit a few real estate developments over the two days. There will be time to visit scenic spots, however. The tour will cost only 198 yuan (US$24), 200 yuan cheaper than the previous price, as the government of Yangzhou will subsidize the trips. The discount will last for four weeks, and if the program proves popular it will be expanded.
