A new Egyptian cabinet led by Ahmed Nazef was sworn in before
President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday, the official MENA news agency
reported. The new 34-member cabinet comprises 14 new faces and 20 old ones,
including four who have changed places. Following the sworn-in ceremony,
Mubarak held a meeting with the entire cabinet to define the main missions of
the government. The missions focus on raising the people's standards of
living, improving the performance of the administrative body and advancing the
economy through information technology. Mubarak issued a presidential decree
Tuesday evening, approving the lineup of the new cabinet led by Nazef. The
approval came shortly after Nazef nominated Ahmed al- Maghrabi as tourism
minister, the last portfolio to be filled.
