Ferry services reopen after storm

Ferry service between three local islands reopened at 9am yesterday, but
small vessels were still required to anchor, said Shanghai Maritime Safety
Administration. More than 600 ships went in or out of local harbors around
yesterday noon as local water traffic returned normal after being suspended for
Thursday's storm warning. Each of the 12 coal ships anchoring at docks during
the storm to wait to enter local ports would be escorted by maritime patrol
ships, officials said. The administration warns all vessels to be alert on
shipping as the wind still measured at Force 8 (62 to 74 kilometers per hour) at
the mouth of the Yangtze River yesterday.
