15/10/2004 16:45

The first civilian-use field hospital in China will open in a matter of months, said an official of the country's international rescue team.
A first-aid field hospital "with advanced equipment, professional rescuers and high maneuverability" will be set up in the country at the end of this year or the beginning of next year, said Zheng Jingchen, deputy team leader of the China International Search and Rescue Team, at an international forum on modern rescue held in Hangzhou, capital of eastern Zhejiang Province, yesterday.
The field hospital, which will be part of CISAR, will consist of 40 doctors and nurses from the General Hospital of the Armed Police, which is based in Beijing.
The field hospital can go into operation within one hour after arriving at a disaster-hit area, and all staff members hold certificates for international rescue, Zheng said.
