US famous actress, Oscar winner, Whoopi Goldberg, the first woman to host the
Oscars was omitted from the Oscar host montage shown during Sunday night's
ceremony.
Goldberg teared up on "The View" yesterday when her fellow co-hosts pointed
out that she was not included in the host montage.
"Undoubtedly, I pissed somebody off once again," Goldberg said. She did,
however, appear as an Oscar winner in a separate montage Sunday night.
The 52-year-old Goldberg has received two Oscar nominations, winning for her
role as Oda Mae Brown in 1990's "Ghost." She hosted the event in 1994, 1996,
1999 and 2002.
Goldberg noted that Steve Martin, who hosted the doomed show of 2003, was
also left off the reel.
Barbara Walters, the creator of the ABC chatfest, comforted Whoopi, "We think
you're a great host."
"I think we should do our own montage of you to make up for it," co-host
Elisabeth Hasselbeck pondered aloud.
"This makes up for it." She then got out of her seat and delivered a peck on
the cheek to each of them and then hugged Barbara Walters.
But this wasn't the only slip-up from the event. Brad Renfro, who appeared in
movies such as "The Client" and "Apt Pupil," died in 2007 from an alleged drug
overdose. The child actor was left out the montage featuring over 98 movie-types
who passed away in the last year.
