A former drummer with the Swedish pop band ABBA was found dead with cuts to
his neck at his home in Spain, police said today.
They said the body of Ola Brunkert, 61, who lived alone at his home on the
Mediterranean island of Majorca, was found by a neighbour late Sunday in his
garden in a pool of blood.
Police said he appeared to have fallen through a window at his home, and the
first results from an autopsy confirmed the death was accidental.
Brunkert, born in Sweden, played drums on ABBA's first single "People Need
Love," according to Abba's official Web site.
The group's hits included "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo," "Take a Chance on Me"
and "Knowing Me, Knowing You."
"Ola toured with ABBA in 1977, 1979 and 1980," the official Web site said.
"Together with bass player Rutger Gunnarsson, Ola is probably the only musician
to appear on all ABBA albums -- he was one of the most frequently used Swedish
session musicians during the 1970s."
