The official poster for the 61st Cannes Film Festival was unveiled on
Saturday in the French seaside resort where the annual event is held, reported
Chengdu Daily yesterday.
The poster was created by Pierre Collier, a French cinema poster artist,
inspired by a photograph of David Lynch. It pays tribute to the talent and works
of the renowned American filmmaker.
The event organizer said the poster's design conveys the same tone as
director Lynch's films.
Lynch's films have been nominated four times for awards at the Cannes Film
Festival. He won the event's Golden Palm award for Best Picture in 1990 for the
romantic thriller "Wild at Heart" in 1990 and an award for best Director for the
film drama "Mulholland Drive" in 2001. Lynch also was the head judge at the
Cannes Film Festival in 2002.
